Christmas Calendar, Day 14
For the Mom: Cozy Fleece Cape
I wanted to make something cozy&warm for my Mom,
and I thought a creamy white cape would do the trick.
This just might be the quickest DIY I've ever done!
How to:
You need 40 inches x 60 inches of fabric. I used fleece so I did not have to do anything to the edges other than cut around so it would be straight. Then cut as in the picture above; from the edge to a little over the middle (1-2 inches). Try it on and see if you need to make it narrower.
Done? Already? Yup.
Wear it as a mega scarf.
Wear with a belt.
Possible variations:
You could sew on pockets:
You could sew on buttons,
attaching the front and the back at the sides:
guauuuu it is a nice idea, I will make it soon for me.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I bought a fabric for myself yesterday.... :)
DeleteWow! What a simple and great idea!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could embellish it with all sorts of things too :)
Yup, it's a blank canvas really :) what would you embellish it with? I'd like to do leather pockets... Would just be hard to wash :/
DeleteI think this is great and although it's no sew.. I wonder if maybe a zig zag stitch around the edges would give it a more finished look? What do you think? Have you tried doing this with a fringe?
ReplyDeleteHey! Yeah I did this with another project, https://abirdsleap.com/2013/01/diy-cape-with-hood-pockets.html, because of a fabric that otherwise would fringe. I think it could look really cool with a large zig zag :)
