8th: Jute Stringed Mason Jar Candle Holder

Christmas Calendar, Day 8

Decoration For the Home:
Jute Stringed Mason Jar Candle Holders

Thinking about Holiday decorations, I knew I wanted to make something simple that would work year-round. We don't really have a lot of stuff and feels silly putting time&effort into something that would be so limited in usage. So, I decorated these mason jar candle holders with jute string: perfect for Christmas, chilly winter evenings or a summery night! You could always use string that is in a color that suits your Holiday decorations/interior colors.

How to:

Get some large mason jars. Take the top part of the lid off, and put the bottom part back on.

Put glue around the jar, and then start twirling the jute string around the jar.

Tie the ends as you wish; in a knot, in a bow, with some twigs or trinkets in it.

Take wire, I used approx as much as 2,5 loops around the top plus a little over double the amount I wanted for the handle.

Twist and turn the wire around so that it sits tightly around the jar, just under the lid. It is easiest to get the handle in place before you tighten it up.

A tip on how you can easily put a tea light candle in a high jar: Fill the jar halfway with water. Light the candle, tilt the jar, and put the tea light onto the water. It'll float!

    1. Yup, now I'm kinda thinking I could have attached something to the string as well... Keys or something :)
